Charlotte hurt

Today I was hurt. I was hurt and I wanted to hold onto it, because sometimes it feels strangely comforting to hold onto the hurt. Like a firm grasp will help you process the best reaction, the most biting response.

It wasn’t even all that big.

Tonight a protester in Charlotte was killed by another protester in the midst of ongoing unrest.

People are hurt. People are dying and we’re holding onto all of it because maybe we can buy enough time to figure out the right response.

I can’t hold onto anger less significant than this. I can’t let someone’s hurtful words distract from unwarranted deaths and confused violence.

I’m letting go of any grievances I have because there’s none more important than the humanity we share.
